Ethos
What Does Organic Mean?
Approximately 60-70% of the products we put on our skin are absorbed by the skin. This includes all synthetic or toxic chemicals that these products may contain.
Many of these chemicals have the potential to interfere with our body's biological functions; many others create allergic reactions - sometimes severe, such as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) which produces foam to dissolve dirt and grease, although can cause dryness, eye and skin irritation. SLS can also be contaminated with very low levels of a chemical that may cause cancer.
Cosmetics pose a specific threat to women - the primary consumers of cosmetics and many cosmetic products are known to contain harmful ingredients - particularly hydroquinone, parabens (preservatives), phthalates (used in fragrances), nitrosamines, formadehyde, and acrylamide.
What is Sustainability?
Not all Organic products are 'sustainable'. Sustainability is key to ensure we put back into the environment what we take out.
Duchy support recycling and reducing the volume of virgin material used in the industry. Our packaging is made using recycled and recyclable plastic, paper and metal. Our cartons are made using recycled card which can also be recycled and re-used. They are printed with non-toxic inks.
Additionally, we use bottles made with 100% Post Consumer Regrind (PCR).
Courtauld Commitment
